Freddie Flintoff's return to TV is finally confirmed following the cricketer's ... trends now

Andrew 'Freddie' Flintoff is set to make a return to TV screens in the second series of his show Field Of Dreams - more than a year after his horror crash on Top Gear.

The former cricketer, 46, was involved in a near-fatal car crash that left him with serious injuries while filming the driving show in December 2022

He has since been absent from TV presenting duties, but on Thursday the BBC confirmed that he would be returning for Field Of Dreams's reprisal, The Mirror reported. It is known yet known when the series will air.

Field Of Dreams sees Freddie return to his home town to attempt to inspire some unlikely teens to get into cricket.

The BBC announced in October 2022 that the series would be commissioned for a sequel however there were no updates after Freddie's crash - however earlier this month he was seen filming for the show in India

Freddie was 'lucky to be alive' after his is open-topped three-wheel 130mph Morgan Super 3 car, which had no air bags, flipped over in December 2022, leaving him with severe facial injuries and several broken ribs. 

Following the near-fatal crash, the BBC announced that it would pause Top Gear - and in November last year it was rested for the 'foreseeable future'.

But fans were relieved earlier this month when he looked to be on the mend as he displayed his healing facial injuries while filming Field Of Dreams in India

He looked in good spirits as he posed for a photo with cricketer Subhajit Naskar at the Cricket Association of Bengal. 

The Ashes hero was dressed in a black T-shirt and matching shorts along with a pair of sunglasses.

A source told The Sun: 'Everyone is thrilled Freddie is gearing up to get back to work. We know how much this series means to him. It was a passion project that was loved by the viewers, so it's great it will mark his return.'
