Kathy Bates was spotted in New York this week busily filming Matlock, her upcoming reboot of the iconic 1980s legal series.
The original show was a mystery drama starring Andy Griffith as a cranky and formidably effective defense lawyer called Ben Matlock.
Now Kathy, 75, is starring in a new spin-off as Madeline 'Matty' Matlock, and this time the storyline has been given a distinctly comic flavor.
Matty is a woman in her 70s who goes back to work as a lawyer and is initially disdained by the younger colleagues at her firm.
However, she soon reveals that she is capable of using her harmless appearance and sweet-old-lady act to devastating effect in hoodwinking her professional adversaries.
