Crazy Rich Asians is heading to Broadway as a musical... 6 years after becoming ... trends now

Crazy Rich Asians - which starred Constance Wu, Henry Golding and Michelle Yeoh - is heading to Broadway with the film's director Jon M Chu set to helm the musical production.

On Wednesday, Deadline announced the comedy based on the trilogy of books by Kevin Kwan and the popular 2018 movie of the same name would be heading to the Great White Way.

Chu will be making his Broadway debut with the production. 

In addition to Crazy Rich Asians, Chu is best-known for directing In the Heights and the upcoming Wicked starring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo.

Shmigadoon writer Leah Nanako Winkler will adapt the story for Broadway while KPOP composer Helen Park will write the music.

No casting, production or release dates have been mentioned for what is sure to become a hot ticket.

Crazy Rich Asians follows Rachel, a Chinese-American college professor who learns that her boyfriend Nick comes from one of the richest families in Singapore when she accompanies him on a trip to meet his family.

Chu has been hard at work on the two Wicked movies since December 2022. The director said 'destiny' was on his side when he was able to cast Grande and Erivo.

'When you find those two, you know it's destiny,' Chu, 44, said Thursday of Grande, 30, and Erivo, 37, who portray Glinda and Elphaba in the movie, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
