Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jodie Comer and Ralph Fiennes are revealed to have been cast in the anticipated 28 Days Later sequel, reported Deadline on Wednesday.

The original, zombie apocalyptic film premiered in theaters 22 years earlier in 2002 - with Cillian Murphy taking on a leading role.

The sequel - which is titled 28 Years Later - is slated to be the third installment in the franchise and the first in an upcoming trilogy.

Danny Boyle, who directed 28 Days later, as well as original writer, Alex Garland, are also returning. The pair notably only served as executive producers on the second movie, 28 Weeks Later (2007).

Both Boyle and Garland will produce the new project alongside Andrew Macdonald, Peter Rice and Bernie Bellew, while Cillian Murphy will be an executive producer, per The Hollywood Reporter.

Whether the Oppenheimer actor will also make an appearance in 28 Years Later is not known.

While talking to The Independent earlier this year in January, Murphy revealed if he would possibly star in the franchise once again.

'I would be there in a flash,' he admitted to the outlet. 'I made two movies with both of those guys (Boyle and Garland), and I would love to work with them again. Of course, I'm there.'

Aaron Taylor-Johnson is known for starring in a handful of projects, such as Bullet Train and Anna Karenina.

He recently starred alongside Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt in The Fall Guy, and will appear in the upcoming Marvel film titled Kraven The Hunter.

It has recently been reported that the actor has also been offered the iconic role of 007 agent, James Bond.

Jodie Comer notably worked alongside Sandra Oh in the series, Killing Eve, and appeared in movies such as Free Guy and The Last Duel.

Oscar-nominated actor, Ralph Fiennes, played the character of Voldemort in the Harry Potter franchise, while starring in other films such as The English Patient, Schindler's List, The Menu and The King's Man.

Danny Boyle , who directed 28 Days later, as well as original writer, Alex Garland, are also returning. The pair notably only served as executive producers on the second movie, 28 Weeks Later (2007); Boyle seen in 2022 in London
