Selena Gomez says social media break was 'most rewarding gift' to herself while ... trends now
Selena Gomez got candid about her break from social media and revealed that it had been the 'most rewarding gift' to herself.
The Love On songstress, 31 - who recently put on a radiant display while arriving to the Only Murders In The Building set - opened up about the topic during the Time 100 Summit on Wednesday in NYC.
The star - who had let her team run her account for around four years - notably has taken breaks from the app, including a short hiatus earlier this year in January.
'Well, I took four years off of Instagram, and I let my team post for me for those years,' she explained, per "Time. 'I felt like it was the most rewarding gift I gave myself.'
Gomez added, 'I think people, especially young kids, it's - you're sitting there so focused on what looks wonderful when everything that's meant to be wonderful to you is not from here.'

The actress explained that amidst her social media break, she had been 'more present' and 'happier.'
'I would actually get real phone calls about people telling me about their story, and I could actually hear it instead of going, "Oh, I already know what you did today." It's, like, more human.'
Now that she is back to running her own Instagram account, the star discussed why it could be 'frustrating' at times.
'I just - I find it frustrating and then I get a little mouthy, and I wanna defend people I love,' Selena admitted during the panel discussion.
In regards to social media, the Single Soon hitmaker expressed that, 'it's important to take breaks. So I try to...I don't really pay much attention. I'll just do things here and there.'
Earlier this year in January, Gomez notably announced that she would be taking a break from Instagram.
At the time, she uploaded a reel of boyfriend Benny Blanco playing with two younger children. In text added towards the bottom, she penned, 'I'm off social for a while. I'm focusing on what really matters.'
The announcement took place amidst Golden Globes drama involving Gomez, Taylor Swift, Kylie Jenner and also Timothee Chalamet.
