Filmmaking duo Anthony and Joseph Russo spoke about the possibility of bringing Robert Downey Jr. back to fill his old role as Tony Stark, also known as Iron Man, during a new interview with  Gamesradar+.

The directors worked with the 59-year-old actor in several entries in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and his character was killed off at the end of the 2019 blockbuster hit Avengers: Endgame.

The filmmakers stated that, although the actor was enthusiastic about returning to the part, they were unsure of how his reentry to the MCU would play out.

Anthony began by stating that he did not 'know how they would do it. I don't know what the road to that would be.'

Joe went on to add that he felt as Stark's death at the end of Avengers: Endgame 'closed that book.'
