Lindsay Lohan receives Ann-Margret's blessing to play her in biopic she's ... trends now

While looking to follow up on her ongoing Hollywood comeback, Lindsay Lohan has her heart and mind firmly focused on playing two-time Oscar nominee Ann-Margret.

In the wake of sharing about her passion to play her dream role, the former child star and fellow redhead has reportedly received Ann-Margret's blessing to play her in a biopic, according to Us Weekly.

As part of that blessing, Lohan is going to meet up with the famed actress and singer, who was once billed as a female version of Elvis Presley, and spend time together in preparation for the upcoming film.

Lohan, 37, first revealed her interest in portraying the Bye Bye Birdie (1963) star a couple of months ago in an interview with Bustle, which also revealed there's been a recent search for the 'right writer' for the screenplay.

'She's a triple threat, and she's an amazing woman on top of that,' The Parent Trap star explained to the outlet. 'So I just really want to do her justice and help tell a great story for her.'

Margeret kicked off her career in Hollywood with her role in Frank Capra's Pocketful Of Miracles (1961)

Lindsay Lohan, 37, has reportedly gotten a blessing from Ann-Margret to play her in an upcoming biopic about her career that dates back to 1961

In 1961, Margret (born Ann-Margret Olsson), now 83, filmed a screen test at 20th Century Fox and soon after signed to a seven-year contract.

But she would ultimately make her debut  for United Artists in Frank Capra's Pocketful Of Miracles alongside screen queen Bette Davis (1961) after being loan deal between the two studios.

Her performance as the all-American teenager in musical romantic comedy film Bye Bye Birdie (1963) would end up being a breakthrough role ushering her to major star status.

Even with a leading lady credit opposite Elvis Presley in the rock and roll musical film Viva Las Vegas (1964), Lohan recently revealed the crime drama Kitten With A Whip (1964) is her favorite of all of Margret's roles during her long career.

'This girl who breaks out of a mental institution and breaks into this man's house who's running for senator,' Lohan described the production from Douglas Heyes, that also stars John Forsythe, Peter Brown, Patricia Barry and Richard Anderson.

She added, 'She starts inviting all her friends over and tells him she's not leaving and basically holds him hostage in his own home.'

And while she has professed her love of late screen stars like Marilyn Monroe and Clara Bow, the Mean Girls actress admitted: 'I'm more Ann-Margret.'

Her belief in her own acting prowess has Lohan convinced 'she's the only one who can play the part' of the iconic redhead.
