John Malkovich, 70, is cast in the Fantastic Four reboot starring Pedro Pascal ... trends now

John Malkovich joins the ranks of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, securing a role in the upcoming Fantastic Four film.

The Academy Award-nominated actor, 70, has signed on for the superhero reboot in an undisclosed role, per a report by Deadline published on Thursday.

The announcement follows closely on the heels of news that I, Tonya star Paul Walter will also feature in the film, the details of which are being kept tightly under wraps. 

The stars join Pedro Pascal (Reed Richards, aka Mr. Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby (Sue Storm, aka the Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn (Johnny Storm, aka the Human Torch) and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Ben Grimm, aka the Thing) as Marvel’s First Family.

Ozarks' Julia Garner is reportedly taking on the role of Shalla-Bal, a version of the Silver Surfer. 

Matt Shakman (WandaVision) is directing the film from a script by Eric Pearson, Josh Friedman, Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer. 

Given Malkovich's commanding presence and the inclusion of the Silver Surfer, it's reasonable to speculate that he may be cast as villain Galactus in the film, per ComicBook.com.

The outlet also noted Malkovich is no stranger to comic book adaptations, having starred in the two RED movies, which were based on the WildStorm comics by Garth Ennis and Cully Hamner. 

He took on the role of executive producer for the critically acclaimed indie drama Ghost World, adapted from Daniel Clowes' comic of the same name.
