Olly Alexander attends Eurovision dress rehearsal after his final interview is ... trends now

It is just over 24 hours until the Eurovision song contest in Malmo Sweden and the acts are busy running through their songs for the final time ahead of Saturday night.

Olly Alexander took to the stage for a dress rehearsal on Friday afternoon after his final interview was cancelled in what could be the most chaotic and political year of Eurovision ever.

The British singer, 33, and the other acts were due to speak to the media this afternoon but they will no longer be doing so.

Instead Olly was seen rehearsing his track Dizzy after suffering a wardrobe malfunction during his semi final performance on Tuesday.

An email sent from the organisers of the show on Friday read: 'Please note that the big five and Sweden media conference originally scheduled for 18.30 (5.30pm BST) has been cancelled because all artists want to focus on rehearsals.'

The big five also includes Italy, Germany, France and Spain

Earlier this week Olly admitted he was 'thrown off' and felt 'stressed and worried' when his mic pack fell off during the second chorus impacting his performance as fans shared concerns for his shaky vocals.

Meanwhile Israel's Eden Goal took to the stage for the dress rehearsal, after it was revealed she is second in the running to win the contest.

The singer belted out her emotional track Hurricane, which was reworked from a previous track called October Rain, believed to reference the Hamas attacks on Israel.

Cutting an elegant figure in a flowing white dress, the singer opened with a back bend, before launching into her song as she was surrounded by her backing dancers.

Oddsmakers are now listing Israel as one of the favourites to win the competition after she was voted through in Thursday night's semi final despite mass pro-Palestinian protests.

She took to the stage having spent the whole day locked down in her hotel room by her country's Shin Bet security agency after receiving death threats and amid terror-attack fears.

Thousands of protesters clamoured in the streets of Malmo calling for her expulsion from the competition ahead of the event - and 50 more made it to the front of the arena ahead of her performance and had to be dispersed by police officers.

But despite boos from the pro-Palestinian contingent in the crowd, Eden booked her place in the final thanks to viewers' votes.

Previous Eurovision winners Charlotte Perrelli, Carola and Conchita also took to the stage during the dress rehearsal suggesting they will be performing at the final.

Representing Sweden, Charlotte won the competition back in 1999 with her song Take Me To Your Heaven before later competing in the competition again in 2008 with her track Hero.

Meanwhile Carola is a seasoned professional at the competition having competed on behalf of Sweden three times.

She finished in third in 1983, before winning the contest in 1991 with her song Captured by a Lovestorm. She then competed once again in 2006 and finished fifth.

Austrian singer and Drag Queen Conchita took the victory home back in 2014 with his incredible power ballad Rise Like A Phoenix.

The threesome looked sensational as they took to the stage in their glamorous ensembles.
