George Clooney, 63, to make Broadway debut in adaptation of his 2005 film Good ... trends now

George Clooney is set to make his Broadway debut at age 63.

The E.R. alum, 63, will play journalist Edward R. Murrow in the adaptation of his 2005 film Good Night, and Good Luck, which he also directed. 

In the film, David Strathairn played Murrow while Clooney portrayed the head of CBS, Fred Friendly.

'I am honored, after all these years, to be coming back to the stage and especially to Broadway, the art form and the venue that every actor aspires to,' the Out of Sight actor said in a statement, per People.

Clooney will adapt the screenplay with Tony-winner David Cromer. The film was written by Clooney and Grant Heslov.

'Edward R. Murrow operated from a kind of moral clarity that feels vanishingly rare in today's media landscape,' Cromer said.

'There was an immediacy in those early live television broadcasts that today can only be effectively captured on stage, in front of a live audience,' he added.
