Channel Nine staff angry over 'special treatment' as top athletes given ... trends now

Channel Nine's stable of reporters are said to be angry over how the network is handling the upcoming coverage of the 2024 Paris Olympics

A number of Olympic superstars, reportedly including swimmers Ian Thorpe, Grant Hackett and Stephanie Rice, cyclist Cadel Evans, Paralympian Dylan Alcott and basketballer Andrew Gaze, are being paid 'bloated' salaries to provide coverage of the sporting event, the Daily Telegraph claims.

'It is rumoured some of these Olympic stars are being paid up to $10,000 a day to feature on Stan's coverage of the Olympics, have been offered business class flights and will stay right near where all the action is,' an alleged insider told the publication.

That isn't the case for Nine staff, whose salaries are nowhere near as impressive and who won't be in the thick of the event, the report went on to claim.

'The main Nine team, including the Wide World of Sports commentary team, who will no doubt be doing the hard yards, have been offered peanuts and are staying miles away from where everything is happening in Paris,' the alleged insider claimed.
