Jennifer Lopez admits to relating to her 'very misunderstood' character in ... trends now

Jennifer Lopez revealed she can ‘relate’ to her ‘very misunderstood’ character in her new film, Atlas, while attending its premiere in Los Angeles on Monday night.

While reflecting on playing Atlas Shepherd, 'a brilliant but misanthropic data analyst with a deep distrust of artificial intelligence' in the film's synopsis, the superstar, 54, admitted to seeing a lot of herself in the character amid split rumors with husband Ben Affleck

'We are so different because she doesn't wear any of her emotions,' the mother-of-two told People. 'She's so closed off and I am too much emotion sometimes.'

She continued: 'But at the same time we are both very strong and sure of what they feel.'

The actress, who has starred in romantic comedies like The Wedding Planner and Maid in Manhattan, said, at times, she's 'very sure of what' she wants, and, other times, she's 'very doubtful of' herself.

'I follow my instincts more than anything and I find that when I go against that, is when I go wrong,' Lopez noted.

Lopez also admitted to infusing 'a little bit' of herself into the role.
