Madonna's Sydney party plans spoiled by city lockout laws

Sydney's strict lockout laws have been controversial since their introduction by the NSW government in 2014.

But it seems it's not just Sydneysiders who are feeling the impact of not being allowed into some venues after 1.30am.

According to The Daily Telegraph on Tuesday, even international superstar Madonna had her party plans ruined by the tough laws.

Industry sources allegedly told the publication the Like A Virgin singer had her night unexpectedly cut short when she fell foul of the restrictive rules in 2016.

'Madonna was unable to join her dancers on level six of Justin Hemmes' swanky Ivy on George St in March last year because she arrived after 1.30am,' the Telegraph reported.

Plans to hold an after-party at the Ivy also reportedly fell through thanks to the laws which restricted the venue's ability to host the A-Lister.
