Stephen A. Smith declared that the Houston Texans are now the best team in the Lone Star State, as sports media personalities reacted to Stefon Diggs joining the team.
On Wednesday, the Buffalo Bills reportedly traded the wide receiver to Houston for a 2025 first-round pick via Minnesota. The Texans also received a 2024 sixth-round pick and a 2025 fifth-round selection in the trade.
The trade pairs Diggs up with a rising star, CJ Stroud, at quarterback. Bringing Diggs on board gives Stroud, coming off his rookie season, a primary wide receiver in a squad packed with young talent.
'The big headline is they're probably the best team in Texas,' Smith said on First Take with a smile. 'I'm hoping it's Houston against Dallas [on a Monday night game].'
'What's gonna happen with those Dallas Cowboys is that they're gonna sit out there, and they're gonna monitor this situation. It's one thing for you to not win a Super Bowl - that's bad enough. It's one thing for you to not make the NFC championship game - that's even worse. But it's another thing, entirely, when you're not even the best team in Texas.'
