Liverpool have a 'pathological and psychological problem' with playing Manchester United, according to It's All Kicking Off co-host Ian Ladyman.

Jurgen Klopp's side were again left frustrated by their rivals during Sunday's 2-2 draw at Old Trafford.

Despite United's poor season, they are the only side to stop Liverpool scoring in a match in December's goalless draw at Anfield, came back to beat them 4-3 in the FA Cup, and somehow walked out with a point at Old Trafford.

Across the two league games, Liverpool had 62 shots on goal compared to United's 15, yet Klopp's side have lost four valuable points in the title race from both meetings.

Speaking on podcast It's All Kicking Off, Mail Sport's football editor, Ladyman argued with co-host Chris Sutton about Liverpool's 'psychological problem' against their bitter rivals.

He said: 'I said it straight after the FA Cup 4-3 Manchester United win, which was, as we all know, an extraordinary game. I said straight away that could have a psychological impact on what happened in the league game that came around yesterday.

'I sat there watching that game. I watched an almost identical game of football and there was a point early in the second half when Liverpool missed yet another opportunity to turn a one-goal lead
