Leah Williamson is looking forward to an ‘emotional’ England return, with the defender set to start against the Republic of Ireland on Tuesday night.

Williamson has not played for the Lionesses since April 2023 after rupturing her anterior cruciate knee ligament, an injury which caused her to miss last summer's World Cup.

The defender was an unused substitute against Sweden on Friday, but England boss Sarina Wiegman confirmed she will start Tuesday’s crucial Euro 2025 qualifier at the Aviva Stadium.

‘Yes, it will be [emotional],’ Williamson said.

‘It was emotional on Friday, I’m an emotional person, we’ve all seen me cry on many occasions.
