Luton star Andros Townsend has claimed Premier League clubs being deducted points make a 'mockery' of the top flight - after Everton were sanctioned for the second time this season.
The Toffees were dealt another blow in their turbulent season as they were handed a further two-point deduction by the Premier League for breaching their financial rules, having already been docked 10 points in November.
That penalty was later reduced to six on appeal, before the club were hit with a second breach, which relates to the three-year accounting period ending in the 2022-23 campaign. The first was connected to the three-year period that ended in the 2021-22 season.
Everton have now been moved down one place in the table to 16th, just two points above the relegation zone with seven games to play - heightening fears they could be sent down to the Championship.
And former Toffees star Townsend - who plays for their relegation rivals Luton Town - was far from impressed by the worrying state of Premier League clubs being sanctioned over financial breaches.
