Liz Cambage has escaped heavy punishment for her antics which saw her ejected from a basketball game in China.

The former WNBA and Australian Opal player was removed after viciously elbowing one opponent in the head and hitting another in the face.

She found her career on the rocks after allegedly making racial remarks toward the Nigerian national team in a warm-up match before the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.

Opals teammates and members of the Nigerian team alleged Cambage called her opponents 'monkeys' and told them to 'go back to your third world country' during a break in play

That put her offside with her Los Angeles Sparks Nigerian-American teammates and she was ultimately released by the franchise.

However Cambage landed firmly on her feet, earning a $1million contract with the Sichuan Yuanda women’s team based in Chengdu - for the just three months work.

Her bumper pay day means Cambage earns more than four times as much as the best-paid WNBA stars, with Supermax contracts
