Simone Biles has revealed how the backlash faced by her husband, NFL star Jonathan Owens, over comments he made about the Olympic gymnast took a toll on her mental health and led her to 'break down'.

The Chicago Bears safety went viral after insisting he was unaware of Biles before they started dating. 'I had never really paid attention to gymnastics,' he said.

Owens also claimed he was more of a 'catch' the seven-time Olympic medalist. Biles was there for the interview and claims she was happy with how it unfolded, only to go home and see her husband at the center of a social media storm.

'I thought everything was OK, and then I go on Twitter and everybody’s like: "Divorce this man. He’s mean!"' Biles told the 'Call Her Daddy' podcast on Wednesday. 

'I’m like: "He’s the sweetest. He praises the ground that I walk on." Truly, I’ve never met a man like him… he truly goes out of his way to do anything for me.'
