PHILIPPE CLEMENT last night accused Celtic rival Brendan Rodgers of showing a lack of respect towards his Rangers side.
Rodgers lit the blue touch paper ahead of a potential title decider when he told Rangers he was up for ‘a bit of fun’ at Parkhead this weekend.
Speaking after the Ibrox side narrowed the gap on their bitter rivals to three points with a 4-1 win over ten-man Kilmarnock, a riled Clement hit back.
‘That is something that I would never say about an opponent,’ said the Belgian. ‘But okay, we will see. It’s not really respectful towards my team. That is what I think. So I will never say things like that about an opponent.’
Starting the game against Kilmarnock six points adrift, Rangers suffered a nightmare start when captain James Tavernier scored an own goal after 12 minutes.
Awarded a penalty after the second pitchside VAR check, Rangers saw Killie defender Joe Wright red-carded for handling on the line before Will Dennis produced a superb spot-kick save from Tavernier.
