An embarrassing rugby tackle has gone viral after a player was picked up and carried downfield for almost 50 metres.
The tackle happened during a FNB Classic Clashes school rugby match between Welkom Gimnasium vs HS Goudveld, one of South Africa's major school sport events.
Their annual derby has been a feature on the calendar since 1963 with the old rivals taking each other on in rugby, hockey and netball to determine an overall winner.
While the firsts rugby match is usually the highlight of the derby, it was this tackle in an earlier match that stole all the attention this year.
The scrum-half received the ball deep in opposition territory before he was pounced on by a Welkom Gimnasium defender.
