sport news Usain Bolt cramp blamed on waiting for medal ceremonies

Yohan Blake has accused London 2017 organisers of causing the injury that wrecked Usain Bolt’s farewell by leaving him waiting in the cold too long.

Bolt hit the deck with severe cramp in his hamstring halfway into the last leg of the 4x100m relay final - which Great Britain went on to win for their second gold of the World Championships.

It was a hugely anti-climactic way for the Jamaican legend to end his career and team-mate Blake was furious with the organisers, hitting out at being forced to wait 40 minutes in the call room before the start.

‘We kept warming up and waiting, then warming up and waiting.
