The red thong worn by Robert Carlyle's co-star Mark Addy in the film was listed for auction along with other famous props on Tuesday.
The underwear famously featured in a scene where Carlyle and his band of steelworkers stripped off, and was expected to be a popular item in the Hollywood prop auction.
But while the controversial Titanic door prop and Indiana Jones' whip managed to fetch hundreds of thousands at the auction of props owned by Planet Hollywood, the red satin thong failed to sell.
It was still available after the auction and was even put up for sale online with a price of £495 - and is still unclaimed.
The auction raised £12.4million, according to The Telegraph, and it is one of the most successful auctions of Hollywood props.
