A man has been jailed for nine years after he strangled him to death using a chokehold he saw in a Kung Fu film.
Slawomir Tumilowicz,39, killed 38-year-old Rafal Duszyca at their home in Solihull during a drunken row shortly after midnight on July 1, 2022.
Tumilowicz, who eventually admitted to manslaughter, then delayed calling emergency services for 24 minutes claiming he tried to revive his partner himself. Birmingham Crown Court heard how it was not the first time Tumilowicz had used the manoeuvre on Mr Duszyca.
During an incident in March 2022, it was revealed that Tumilowicz had choked his boyfriend prompting the victim to text him afterwards saying 'you almost killed me'.
Summarising the case Judge Francis Laird KC stated 'the relationship was volatile and you both drank heavy' with neighbours describing 'frequent heated arguments between the two of you that usually occurred late at night'.
