Counter terror police probe stabbing at £100-a-night country hotel: Suspect, ... trends now

The incident happened at the Pear Tree Inn near Worcester yesterday afternoon

Counter-terror police are probing a stabbing at a £100-a-night country hotel after two men 'ran in off the street' and started brawling in the car park as guests were arriving.

A 31-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after the attack left the victim, a 25-year-old man, in hospital with a chest and hand wound. West Mercia Police were called to the Pear Tree Inn & Country Hotel, just off the M5, near Worcester, at around 1.30pm yesterday.

The suspect was initially held on suspicion of grievous bodily harm but was then rearrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

Counter Terrorism Policing West Midlands has since taken over the investigation, the force said.

The hotel, which has been under renovation recently, advertises rooms for around £100 a night. Local reports had previously suggested the venue was at one time used to house asylum seekers, but a spokesperson told MailOnline this was false.
