T'Pau much? 1980s singer Carol Decker blasts bar for charging her £51.30 for ... trends now

Eighties pop icon Carol Decker has blasted a bar for charging her £51.30 for four drinks and a bowl of nuts, including a £5.70 service charge.

Decker, who was the lead singer of English pop group T'Pau, was left fuming when she received her bill at the Coppa Club in Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire.

The 66-year-old, who scored a number one hit with China in your Hand in 1987, had bought two pints of Beavertown Neck Oil IPA for £6.80 each and two glasses of Hanson Cuvee Rose at an eyewatering £14 a pop.

After she ordered some almonds for £4 and the service charge was added on, the bar tab exceeded £50.

The singer took to X, formerly Twitter, to vent her anger at the price of her evening out on Tuesday.

In an expletive-laden rant, Decker said: 'Two large glasses of rosé and two pints of lager & a VERY small bowl of nuts £51.30.

'Two rounds of drinks and some f****** nuts!!!

'This is actually f****** nuts!!!'

Decker was the lead singer of T'Pau from its formation in 1986 and within months the group earned a top five hit in the UK and the US with their first single Heart and Soul.

In 1987, smash hit China in your Hand topped charts across Europe and the band's debut album Bridge of Spies was certified platinum by the end of the year.

T'Pau disbanded in 1992 after a string of top 40 singles, which also included the 1988 song Valentine, but Decker has continued to perform under the group's name.

Fans rushed to support the popstar's vociferous views on bar prices.

Roby Boyd said: 'This is why [Wether]Spoons is successful. Large glass of wine £3.80.'
