Footage released from South Yorkshire Police shows Lee Cherowbrier, 19, being chased by officers at high speed through the villages of Doncaster, south Yorkshire, in the early hours of February 6. Driving in a stolen silver Lexus, Cherowbrier hit 70mph in a 30mph zone and then went over 100mph as he attempted to speed away from the force, having failed to pull over when requested to do so. During the chase, Cherowbrier attempted to ram the pursuing police car a number of times, while his passenger threw items and then himself out of the window of the vehicle. The thief only stopped after smashing the car into the lights, leading the officer who arrested him to shout: 'You could have killed somebody. What is wrong with you?' Whilst searching the vehicle, which was later discovered to have been stolen from a property in Kirk Sandall, officers found a balaclava and makeshift tool.
