The child has been named as Shiraz Asirvadam. According to Duncanville Police Chief Matthew Stogner, Shiraz was in the home when the three dogs escaped from their pen and came inside. The homeowner's three other children were inside the house at the time. They were unharmed. Investigators are attempting to establish if the homeowner was running an illegal daycare out of the home, reports NBC Dallas-Fort Worth. The babysitter's former husband, David Trout, told NBC that she attempted to dive in to separate the dogs from the child and was hurt in the process. Stogner said that first responders had responded to the scene in attempt to save the child's life but sadly, he succumbed to his injuries at Children's Medical Center in Dallas. One was a male weighing 100 pounds, the others were two females weighing around 80 pounds each. Animal control said that the trio were Sheppard mixes. 'She’s a sweetheart. She means well, she’s taken care of kids down there forever without any kind of problems. I just hate it for her,' the babysitter's former husband said. Local officials confirmed to NBC that the home is not a registered daycare. The child was killed here in the Dallas suburb of Duncanville around 11am Monday In the wake of the attack, the dogs have been quarantined. The owner is expected to surrender them to animal control. A court will decide on the ultimate fate of the dogs. It remains to be scene if the owner will face criminal charges in the case. According to Shiraz's father, Shant Asirvadam's, Facebook page, the family welcomed a baby girl on March 25. On his LinkedIn page, Shant says that he works for technology giant, Cognizant. Neighbors was shocked and appalled by the tragedy. 'It's terrible what happened to the child and I feel so terrible for the family and the whole situation,' neighbor Kathy Tracy told CBS Dallas-Fort Worth. 'But I have to look at it from another point of view too because I have a lot of friends at the shelter and animal control and this has just got to be devastating for all of them,' she added. 'If the dogs were that aggressive, I can't understand why they had access to the house at all.' 'No, that's just hard to accept. They never even had a chance at life,' another neighbor, Randy Harris said.
