A police officer sustained serious injuries after being stabbed in broad daylight on a residential street in north London.
Colleagues rushed to administer first aid after the officer was stabbed in the shoulder on Mandeville Road, Enfield at 4.25pm on Tuesday.
Metropolitan Police say the officer is now recovering in hospital and his condition is stable.
The suspect, a 30-year-old-man, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and also sustained injuries during the arrest. He was treated at hospital and is now in police custody.
An image of the blade that was used in the attack has since been released by the Met, after it was seized by the officers who had disarmed the suspect.
