Two people smugglers have been jailed after trying to sneak nine migrants out of the UK to France.
Tarik Slimani, 47, and Italian national Driss Hasska, 54, were spotted by officers meeting at a bus stop in Kent on the evening of August 4 last year.
It was there that they transferred the group of eight men and women, who were all of North African origin, from Slimani's hire van into the trailer of Hasska's lorry.
Officers from the National Crime Agency, who conducted the operation, tailed Hasska to a service station near Maidstone where they searched the trailer of his lorry, discovering the people inside.
Slimani was sentenced to 22 months in prison, and Hasska to 32 months.
