'Put it this way, the bike would be safe, and one of them would be pinned down by me feeling rather sorry for themselves. 'Whilst we wait for the old bill to take them away. It came after an attempted theft of a moped the same night six miles away in a residential street in Earlsfield, southwest London. In that incident, one crook crouched down on the ground using the power tool on the lock as the other two stood guard next to their own scooter. A fourth sat on another moped opposite with its headlight on so they could see what they were doing. Sparks could be seen coming off the angle grinder in a 16-second video from a security camera on a house on the road. They were also captured on a doorbell camera from a neighbouring home. The 30-second clip showed the moment the gang got scared off. The thief struggled with the moped before he manages to wheel it away The accomplice, with their face covered, watches on as the thief steals the moped They suddenly got spooked as someone shouted at them and they fled on their own scooters. On April 2 in a separate incident, a hooded thief was captured on mobile phone footage using an angle grinder to cut the lock on a bicycle free before he cycled away on it. The shameless theft took place on Redchurch Street in Shoreditch, east London in broad daylight. Witnesses watch on as sparks fly from the metal lock, which was easily sliced open. The man - also clad in a tartan jacket and dark gilet - stumbles as the bicycle falls on the ground. But, he manages to pick it up and ride off casually down the road while putting the angle grinder in his green rucksack.
