The shocking footage of the alleged theft was filmed by a shocked customer in the Greggs in Archway, north London last Friday. In the start of the video, the sandwich bandit is seen holding three sandwiches in his hand as he rummages through a fridge. Clad in black Adidas tracksuit bottoms, a black body warmer and a blue T-shirt, he then opens up a door where cold beverages are kept. He picks up two bottles of orange juice before walking out of the door while staring at the shocked customer who filmed the 27-second incident on his mobile phone. As the crook left the Greggs, a man is heard saying, 'f*cking hell. Stealing, stealing.' The crook is seen standing in front of the fridges as he holds three sandwiches With the sandwiches in hand, he opens the door to the cold beverages The sandwich bandit then takes two bottles of orange juice out of the fridge before making his way to the door The police have said they are hunting the man after the theft was reported to them A Met Police spokesperson said: 'We can confirm that we received a third party report of theft of food from a commercial premises at Junction Road, N19 on Friday, 19 April. 'There have been no arrests.' Angry local Duncan Gray said, 'hope it chokes him, thieving scum,' and Dominic Kevill fumed: 'Why not chin him instead of filming?' Another added: 'If you are having to steal from Gregg's, you have definitely made some bad life choices somewhere along the line.' A third local called Charles said: 'Stealing From Greggs? What the f*ck.' Mailonline has contacted Greggs for comment. In another recent example of brazen crime in London, a pair of thieves were filmed ransacking products from a Boots store just yards from a police station on April 21. In the video, one onlooker frantically calls 999 as thieves targeted the shop which is around 200 yards from Chingford Police Station. The pair can be seen chucking products from the shelves into big black sports bags at the Boots store. Stealing, stealing' as the thief leaves the bakery chain It comes as the UK has seen a huge surge in shoplifting incidents with 365,164 cases recorded by police over the 12 months ending June 2023. It comes as a Tesco branch has started wrapping security tags around its shopping baskets, as another store has imposed a 'nightclub-style door policy' by checking shoppers before letting them in amid a surge in shoplifting. The supermarket giant has started tagging the baskets at its store in the village of Theydon Bois, Essex, to deter thieves following a surge in thefts amid the cost-of-living crisis. The move left one shopper baffled who said he could not believe it when he saw his shopping basket was secured with a grey tag.
