Police allege the woman, 35, walked into Fitzroy Primary School on George Street in the inner suburb of Fitzroy and abducted a five-year-old girl at around 9am. She walked with the child to Atherton Gardens on Brunswick Street - a distance of about 600metres. They were spotted by a member of the public, who called the police at around 9.40am, detectives said. The woman was arrested without incident. The primary school immediately called the police when it became aware of the 'disturbing incident', a Department of Education spokesperson said. The woman, who has no fixed address, has been charged with child stealing and will appear before Melbourne Magistrates Court tonight.
