Sydney commuters faced lengthy delays on Monday evening after a person near the tracks in the city's inner-west plunged the train network into chaos. 

The individual was spotted near the tracks at Burwood, prompting lengthy delays on both the North Shore line and the Western line as hundreds of thousands of people attempted to get home.

It's understood the police were in attendance and the individual was removed from the area around 3pm.
