An 11-month-old baby suffered a 'massive injury' to his foot after being run over by a lawnmower in Austria.
Dr Johannes Schalamon said the child had been admitted to the Klagenfurt Clinic in southern Austria over the weekend following the horrific accident.
'The child was crawling in the garden when he was hit by the robotic lawnmower and suffered a massive injury to his foot,' he said.
Schalamon told local media the child had to be operated on for two hours but will still require follow-ups.
He warned that two or three small children have to be treated in his department at the training hospital, Austria's third largest, every year following lawnmower-related incidents, with the most horrific injuries sometimes tragically leading to amputation.

Schalamon did not confirm the nature or extent of the injuries to the child, or whether they would require amputation.
But pediatric and adolescent surgeons at the Klagenfurt Clinic warned children remained at risk of injury given the growing popularity of 'robotic' lawnmowers.
Last year, an eight-year-old girl from Ammanford in south-east Wales made headlines when she was chosen to represent her country in a dance show in the US after losing her leg in a freak lawnmower accident.
Alys Davies required amputation below the knee and was fitted with a prosthetic leg in Swansea earlier that year, but returned to action in just ten weeks, shocking medics.
