A prolific burglar has been caught by police hiding in the bushes for the second time – just months after being released from jail for raid near the homes of Premier League stars.

Liam Curry broke into two properties and tried to raid a third in the lavish Darras Hall in Ponteland, Northumberland before being caught by officer in the bushes in January last year.

He was jailed for two years but released after serving half his sentence. Then last month, just weeks after his release, he was caught again trying to break into a house in Gateshead, in Tyne and Wear.

Police bodycam shows the 28-year-old, who has 29 previous convictions, being dragged from the undergrowth again.

Curry admitted burglary at Newcastle Crown Court yesterday and was sent back to prison for two years and four months.

The multi-million pound estate, Darras Hall, is home to a string of footballers including Newcastle United star Alexander Isak and former England legend Alan Shearer.
