Boston's most expensive home lists for $29.9M: Historic mansion has cobalt blue ... trends now

Boston's most expensive single family home has gone on the market for $29.9 million along with some bold design choices.

The 19th century mansion built in 1882 is situated in the city's Back Bay area along Commonwealth Avenue.

It's full of audacious design decisions, from a cobalt colored living room, a chess board flavored hallway, and plenty of skeletons, not in the closet, but in the shower.

The price tag is the most expensive single family home for sale in Boston with more than 10,000 sq ft of space complete with six bedrooms and seven bathrooms, set over five floors.

The current owner, venture-capital investor Kevin Starr, is now selling the home after his family moved out to the Boston suburbs.

Aside from the cool blue living room, the kitchen area is furnished with a shiny black wooden floor, while the home's staircase is a mix of bold choices with different colored stairs leading up to the second floor.

Red, orange, blue and purple steps lead the way.

Many of the home's floors, if not carpeted, or painted in a shiny black paint, making four some stark reflections.

Skeletons are not only in the shower but also run along one of the homes corridors and can be seen in artwork on the walls, including the wallpaper, which also showcases the owner's fascination with skulls.
