A woman who left her bank card in a Sydney parking meter for 24 hours only for other drivers to rack up $160 in parking charges can thankfully see the funny side.

The costly incident happened on Friday when Diana Nguyen, a comedian, parked outside her Airbnb in Bondi in Sydney's east and accidently left her bank card in the parking meter while trying to escape the rain.

In an Instagram post, Ms Nguyen wrote: 'This morning on Mother's Day I woke to 21 transactions on my bank account after 'intentionally' leaving my bank card in the machine for 24 hours.'

The grateful drivers of Bondi took advantage of Ms Nguyen's generosity by charging $160 to her card.

Ms Nguyen wrote on Instagram, 'I am currently performing at Enmore Theatre and if you would like to pay forward the $160 invested outside of my card, see you tonight. Or even a lift would be great!'

There were 21 different transaction on her cards, ranging from $1 to $17.50 in parking charges.

Ms Nguyen told Yahoo News, 'They must have thought it was some kind of angel in Bondi paying for people’s parking.'
