Montreal police have launched an investigation into who was running a marijuana grow op discovered by Montreal firefighters Thursday after a fire broke out in an apartment building in the city’s St. Michel district.

Police were called to the apartment on 41st St. near Pie IX Blvd. about 4 a.m. after firefighters, having brought the blaze under control, found about 100 marijuana plants in the residence.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
