The London Fire Brigade said: ‘Crews continue to work hard with tower block fire in Northern Kensington. Fire is from second to top floor of 27 storey building. ‘

George Clarke, the speaker of Amazing Spaces, told Radio stations 5 Live: ‘I was within bed and heard ‘beep, beep, beep’ and thought, ‘I’ll obtain up and run downstairs because quickly as I could’.

‘I thought it might be the car alarm outside and noticed the glow through the home windows. I’m getting covered in lung burning ash, that’s how bad it is definitely. I’m 100 metres away plus I’m absolutely covered in lung burning ash. It’s so heartbreaking, I’ve noticed someone flashing their torches with the top level and these people obviously can’t get out.

‘The guys are doing an amazing job to get people away that building, but it’s really awful. ‘ 

Clarita Ghavimi, 66, who also lives on seventh floor, stated she was told to depart the building amid fears this might collapse.
