Audience members at Proms 'banned from waving EU flags'

The Proms is embroiled in a Brexit row today after audience members claimed they had been prevented from waving EU flags.

Remainers say they were ordered to put the flags away after they unfurled them at the Royal Albert Hall.

The row erupted towards the end of the performance by the BBC National Orchestra of Wales on Sunday.

The performance, with guest conductor Xian Zhang, featured a rousing rendition of Ode To Joy, the EU's official anthem. 

Concertgoer Fiona Swann said they had draped the flags over barriers separating the audience from the orchestra.

She told the Evening Standard: 'Somebody came and
