Despite showing her 'Urgent Can't Wait' card Imogen was told she couldn't use the toilets in the White Stuff Southampton store
A mother-of-two has slammed fashion store White Stuff for refusing to let her daughter - who has Ulcerative Colitis - use their toilets which caused her to have an accident in public.
Emma Bryant, 43, was shopping with her daughter Imogen, 13, on July 23 when she asked to use their staff facilities at their Southampton branch.
Despite explaining she suffered from the condition that causes diarrhoea and cramping stomach pains and showing her 'Urgent Can't Wait' card she was told to find public toilets instead.
She was left with no choice but to dash to the nearest facilities in John Lewis but had an accident as she couldn't hold on.
Ms Bryant said: 'She was beyond mortified, as anyone would be, especially as she was only just building up her confidence with going out to public places as she is still struggling with a flare up.
'So this huge knock back is the last thing she needed and her confidence has been destroyed.'
Following the incident White Stuff admitted they had 'let Imogen down', promised to improve staff training and vowed to make a donation to Crohn's and Colitis UK.
The incident happened when Imogen had been very poorly and having to take time off from school because of her condition.
Ms Bryant, from the village of Rownhams, in Hampshire, said: 'She lost a lot of confidence and she was only just building it back up and then this happened.
'We were out clothes shopping and we went into White Stuff and she got stomach cramps and she told me "mum I need to go."
'I told her to go and ask the member of staff behind the counter.
'She showed her "Can't Wait" Card and the shop assistant said she needed to ask her manager.
'In the corner of my eye I could see the look on her face and she was shaking her head and then I joined her and she told me they won't let her go because of the stock at the back and said to use the public toilets in John Lewis.
