The west exit of the Henri-Bourassa métro station as well as several nearby streets were shut down by police late Monday after a backpack containing a collection of phials filled with an “unknown liquid” was discovered.
The backpack was found by a commuter and turned over to a transit authority employee. Once the phials were discovered, police were called and a SWAT team called in to determine whether they posed a risk. An examination found the liquids were harmless and the lockdown finally ended a little after 3 a.m. Tuesday.
