Travelling to a foreign country can be a confusing process, especially regarding changes to EU laws, laptop bans and luggage sizes.

Whilst Brits are still able to travel throughout Europe easily, heading further abroad brings its own complications.

One of the strictest countries regarding arrivals and baggage is Australia.

Travellers should always check what is allowed before heading to the country and to avoid being turned back.

The strict quarantine laws cover a huge amount of food and plant goods.

The gov.uk website lists the following as needing to be declared: “any food or goods of plant or animal origin, including nuts, dried fruit and vegetables, herbs and spices, biscuits, cakes and confectionery, teas, coffees and milk-based drinks.”

When declared, it will be decided whether or not they are allowed in.

If not, then travellers can choose to pay for the goods to be exported back to their home or to have them destroyed.
