The voting intention survey by Opinium puts labour on 45 per cent, with the Conservatives now trailing on 39.

The Lib Dems and Ukip are both far off the pace on five per cent each, while the Greens are on two.

The poll result was announced after Jeremy Corbyn today told thousands of protestors at Parliament Square the Tories were "in retreat". 

The pollsters also revealed Theresa May now has a negative approval rating, in contrast with a surging Jeremy Corbyn.

The pollsters explained: “Theresa May now has a negative approval rating, with 51% disapproving of the way she is handling her job and 31% approving.
