Osher explained the science behind his opinion, saying: 'Two dates gives me so much available glucose and slow burning carbs that I can lift heavier and longer than if I eat anything else.'
The 44-year-old, who is expecting his first child with wife Audrey Griffen, said he started eating dates as fuel when training for marathons, finding the snack not only tasty but 'better for my tummy than nasty gels'.
