Studio 10's lively host Denise Drysdale, 70, has been absent from the Channel Ten program since last October.
And now the veteran journalist has revealed she was struck down by a horror run of health problems last year that left her both physically and emotionally defeated.
In a package for the program on Tuesday, Denise told co-host Sarah Harris: 'The last thing I thought I would be doing in the entertainment business is talking about my health, so I just thought I better set the record straight that I’m still alive. just.'

Her health woes began last year, when she was forced to use a wheelchair on a cruise with friends due to a pain in her knee.
She flew home early for a knee replacement, but ended up back at the hospital soon after due to blood clots developing on her knee.
While recovering at home, Denise suffered a detached retina and began to lose her eyesight. She know wears glasses, and says: 'It's frustrating and debilitating.'
