Robin Lord Taylor has been cast as the arch nemesis of Penn Badgley's character Joe Goldberg in season two of You.

The talented actor, 40, who has played Oswald Cobblepot in Gotham since 2014, has been brought on board the popular Netflix series to rattle serial stalker Joe to the core.

According to Deadline, his character, named Will, 'deals with unsavoury sorts as part of his job, but is himself a thoughtful, personable, and highly intelligent guy who marches to the beat of his own drum'.

However, Will is set to find himself 'trapped in a bad situation' shortly after meeting Joe in the second season, which is loosely based on Hidden Bodies - the sequel of Caroline Kepnes' novel You.

The casting announcement comes hot on the heels of Netflix delighting You fans by sharing behind-the-scenes snaps from season two.

Penn, who stars as obsessive book store manager Joe, is seen at a table read with actress Ambyr Childers, who stars as his ex-girlfriend Candace Stone who shockingly re-enters his life at the end of the first season after viewers thought she was dead all along.

After horrified viewers watched him kill his girlfriend Guinevere Beck, the actor, 32, also takes a selfie with Victoria Pedretti, who is set to take on the role of his new object of affection in season two.

'Ok the You season 2 table read is happening and I don't think any of us are ready,' the two snaps were captioned by Netflix.

Penn and his co-stars Ambyr and Victoria appear happy and smiling as they pose for the camera, proving a good camaraderie between the cast in comparison to what is expected to ensue in the upcoming season.

Season one of You ends with Joe kidnapping Beck and keeping her locked away in the basement of the bookshop after she discovers his twisted behaviour.

It concludes with Joe killing Beck as she tries to escape his clutches, but the bookseller is soon left stunned as another ex-girlfriend, who he thought he had killed off, Candace, shows up.
