As one of the world's most successful supermodels, Elle Macpherson rarely has so much as a hair out of place.

But on Thursday, the 54-year-old appeared to suffer a fake tan fail while attending the Opera Ball in Vienna, Austria.

The Australian stunner's hands were a noticeably darker shade of brown than her light complexion, indicating that she may have applied too much tanning lotion.

Despite the mistake, Elle still managed to look breathtaking in a flowing, puffed black gown with long, lace sleeves with a floral detail.
