Davina Rankin claims MAFS experts are only there to make the show look 'legitimate' and never speak to contestants off-camera... and insists producers tell them what to say through earpieces By Ekin Karasin For Daily Mail Australia Published: 05:56 GMT, 1 March 2019 | Updated: 05:56 GMT, 1 March 2019 Viewcomments Married At First Sight's Davina Rankin has claimed the show's experts are only there to make the experiment look 'legitimate'. The 27-year-old Instagram model insisted John Aiken, Dr Trisha Stratford and Melanie Schilling never spoke to the contestants off-camera when she appeared on the show last year. She also alleged that producers tell the trio what to say through earpieces at the commitment ceremonies - a claim that her co-star Dean Wells also made last month. Allegations: Married At First Sight's Davina Rankin has claimed the show's experts are only there to make the experiment look 'legitimate' Davina claimed the experts are simply 'there to make it [the show] look legitimate' in an interview with The Daily Telegraph. 'We never spoke to them one-on-one off camera,' she said, adding, 'we didn't have anything to do with them ever.' Rankin added that at the commitment ceremonies, they're getting 'guided' by producers to get the 'right answers' out of participants. 'Even when you speak to them at the commitment ceremonies they're not actually talking to you, they're talking through the earpiece with the producers,' she said. Hmm: The 27-year-old model said of John Aiken, Dr Trisha Stratford and Melanie Schilling: 'We never spoke to them one-on-one off camera. We didn't have anything to do with them ever' 'So they're not actually giving you advice, they're getting guided as to what to ask or to tell us so they can get the right answers out in front of the cameras.' Rankin also claimed that she needed therapy after the show, so producers put her in touch with someone whose advice was to get antidepressants from her GP. A spokesperson for Endemol Shine Australia, the production company for Married At First Sight, responded: 'The wellbeing of our participants is always our first priority, so medical support is naturally provided when required and psychological support is fully available to all participants at any time throughout production, broadcast and beyond through an off-screen psychologist dedicated to the show.' Davina's one-time love interest Dean Wells also accused the program's 'relationship experts' of being fed lines by producers. Is it true? She also alleged that producers tell the trio what to say through earpieces at the commitment ceremonies 'There's a lot more about this show that no one knows about,' Dean claimed in a Youtube video. 'For example, there's a scene where you sit down on this couch and talk to these so-called experts,' he added, referring to the show's commitment ceremonies. 'These experts are supposed to give you information and guide you through stuff and whatnot. But when you actually sit down and talk to them, you ask them a question, they don't answer you straight away.' He continued: 'They stop, pause and go to their little headset, wait for the producers to tell them what to say, and then they talk to you. Not impressed: Davina's one-time love interest Dean Wells also accused the program's 'relationship experts' of being fed lines by producers, claiming 'it's all coming from a headset' 'It's not actually really talking to you. It's all coming from a headset. They just sit there and get told what to say by the producers.' Married At First Sight's dating gurus have come under fire in the past. Last year, eagle-eyed viewers noticed that they were billed as 'relationship experts' for the first time, after being described as 'psychologists' in past seasons. Emails leaked to Daily Mail Australia in February 2018 revealed that the decision to change their official titles was the result of a complaint made against John Aiken.
